brandBOOST: MindFlex

Prepare to have your minds blown! At this year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show, Mattel introduced a new toy fit for all ages. Behold, MindFlex. It’s a little hard to believe but the toy comes with a head piece that is supposed to help you control a ball on the toy’s platform. By concentrating on the ball, you are supposed to float the ball through a set of obstacles.

For only $99 on October 1st, you can be your own Dr. Xavier from X-Men. And to prove that I’m not yanking your chains, have a look at a demonstration of the product.

NBA Playoffs! What a wonderful time, great basketball, and great commercials! I’ve stumbled upon a magical box of commercials that are airing during this seasons NBA Playoffs. Stay tuned!

Are you a Risk Taker or Risk Adverse?

Either or, here’s a great book called Absinth and Flamthrowers: Projects and Ruminations on the Art of Living Dangerously.

The book is goes through extensive comparisons of all sorts of risk, including physical risks, emotional risks and monetary risk all to answer the question of: Are people who take risks happier than those who do not?

But like all the similar books out there, the answer get’s leaked within all the hype surrounding the topic of the book gets wrapped up in the book summary.

Well the answer isn’t the most overwhelming discovery in the world, but it turns out that the moderate and rational risk takers are the ones that feel most satisfied with their lives. “The Golden Third” of the population as author William Gurstelle calls them, are the population who just take a bit more risk than the average Joe. The end result? A happier and more fulfilled life.

So if you’ve been considering that girl, job, trip, or anything that you’ve had an itch to jump into, now’s the time!

The World of 100

A great comparison of the great divide in our society is to imagine our world as if it were a village of 100 people. With 6 billion people in the world, I guess we lose track of the realities out there.

To remind us all of these disparities, designer Toby Ng created a series of poster to depict The World of 100 in a creative fashion. Here are some of my favourites, but check out Toby’s site for the rest.

brandBOOST – Google

google
It’s been years since people started using the word “Google” in replace of the word search. Google has changed the way we see the internet, we can all agree on that. Well Thursday morning, there was a disruption with the Google service and ended up causing a 5% drop in internet traffic! Next thing you know, we’re calling the internet Google!
